1. Identifies potential and actual problems involving resources and/or safety. Takes action to avert or manage the situation in a manner which meets the needs of veterans in a safe/therapeutic manner. - Assesses planned visits in relation to staffing allocation in making assignments. - Reviews the number of planned scheduled visits; anticipates unscheduled veteran workload - Ensures clinical reports are available to review and the scheduled; 2. Effectively plans veteran care and resources for maximum productivity, efficiency, and positive veteran outcomes. Effective on follow-up actions. 3. Consults with members of the Interdisciplinary Team as needed. 4. Demonstrates leadership with compliance with infection control practices, such as hand washing and wearing of appropriate personal protective equipment. Demonstrates safe work practices with appropriate body mechanics and use of lifting devices. Promptly reports all accidents to supervisor and notifies supervisor promptly of unsafe or unhealthy environmental situations/conditions. Corrects safety hazards promptly. Removes broken equipment out of service immediately, tags it as such, and follows-through for appropriate disposition of the broken equipment. Discusses safety hazards promptly with members of the HBPC team and Veterans. Recognizes need to consult to community agencies (Adult Protective Services, etc.) for corrective action. Submits a new Prosthetic Consult for broken equipment provided by the VHA; requests the Veteran and/or caregiver take the equipment out of service immediately. 5. Conserves resources effectively by using supplies and equipment in a responsible manner. Ensure employees follow appropriate standard operating procedures related to the equipment, devices, and work practices that impact or have the potential to impact the environment. Complies with relevant environmental regulations, Executive Orders, and Green Environmental Management System (GEMS). Work Schedule:

This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, pushing, and operation of a motor vehicle. Transferring patients and objects may be required. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to wear protective clothing in isolation situations or operative invasive procedures. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs. NURSE QUALIFICATION STANDARD a. Basic Requirements(1) Graduation from School of Nursing(a) Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State agency, and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant. NOTE:

The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), an accrediting arm of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. In these programs, students are given a certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX and should submit this certification to VA prior to appointment. Students do not earn a BSN, but receive a MSN degree upon completion of course work. Bridge programs that confer a master's degree also fully meet the education requirement, even though a Bachelor's Degree is not awarded. In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active, and unrestricted registration (see paragraph 2a(3)) will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. (3) Registration a Condition of Employment. A registered nurse (RN) will have a current, full, active and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia. The RN must maintain a current, full, active and unrestricted registration to continue employment with VA. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
